Description

Provisional Patent No. 321493 was granted to John Davis in November 1929. This trap was intended principally to take rabbits.

Set in a rabbit burrow the square frame was set under the treadle catch and, when sprung, was meant to strike the rabbit in the region of the heart and crush it against the top of the hole. Made by W & G Sidebotham, Wednesfield with a modified spring as shown. (The original patent specification showed a riveted bow spring). The treadle is stamped SIDEBOTHAMS DAVIS HUMANE. Relatively little is known about this trap and it is unlikely that many were made. c.1930.
