This in an example of the American Bigelow Trap – possibly a No.2.

An animal passing through the rings will disturb the trigger causing the rings to swivel rapidly together and deliver a lethal blow.
It was designed for racoons, mink, rabbits, etc. Made by Bigelow Trap Co, Marysville, Ohio, USA. Length 14½”. c.1960. Fitted with original chain.
