Description
This finch trap appeared on ebay in September 2012 , offered by an Australian seller and sold for £123. The images and listing details are reproduced here with permission of the seller.
The mechanism is a bit more complex than is common with these traps and is capable of catching two birds independently. The bird lands on tumbler to feed from the tin tray and it’s weight causes it to drop down inside the cage – tumbler flips back up trapping the bird inside
Outer cover is held up with wire arm on the side – see photo
Neat little twisted wire catch on the door
Very well made and in very good order with no damage to the wood or wire – minor marks and wear only indicative of age and use
Ply base is also in good order with some normal minor edge wear only
There would have been 2 tumbler’s at the back to catch the birds however there is only one – doesn’t overly detract though
Approx. 13 inches long by 8 3/4 inches wide by 5 1/2 inches high (9 inches high when cover is open)
