Description
This Full Barrel Vintage Mole Trap is an example of a design of mole trap produced by various manufacturers. The hollow wooden barrel has an annular groove cut inside each end. Nooses made of strong cord and fitted into the grooves are threaded up through holes in the barrel and tied to a central cord that is looped over the depressed spring. The lower end is secured with a wooden peg inserted into the central hole from the inside. The V-shaped notch allows for easier setting. The barrel is positioned in a mole run and when a mole, approaching from either direction, dislodges the peg the trap springs and seizes the animal in one of the nooses.
