Description

An example of the Roberts gin traps which were produced without ‘dogs’.  The rear of the plate latches directly onto the trap jaws holding them open.

The stamps on the plate are interesting, as they show the sort of mergers and acquisitions that took place in the Black-country trap making industry.

The patent was taken out in 1933 by J. Roberts of Wednesfield, who where acquired by W.G Sidebotham around the same time.  Sidebotham’s were know to make traps for Samuel Lewis & Co who’s name also appears on this plate along with Sidebotham’s number ’51’
