Egg trap with 9″ jaws and an unusual spring.

This is a continental egg trap but the cut out ‘U’ shape on the end of the spring is not something we’ve ever seen before.
It’s either an unusual design, a post sale user modification or perhaps a replacement spring added but a long time ago.
