Description

This article first appeared in the Windsor Magazine, in volume 13 published during the first half of 1901. It covers just over 7 pages of the original magazines format, each page approximately 9in x 6in (including borders).

The article was written by Miller Christy, a well know and respected local historian.  His 1928 obituary in the Times newspaper describes him as:  “An authority on Essex archaeology and on many out-of-the-way subjects of interest to collectors and connoisseurs. As a member of the Council of the Essex Archæological Society he superintended, in 1927, the excavation of the Roman temple foundations discovered at Harlow, Essex.

In this article the author is able to draw on stories, news reports and private collections of traps which were available to him first hand and still quite topical almost 120 years ago.  He was able to include 8 photographs related to man-traps and 7 on spring guns.

We have created a digitised PDF from an original article and making it available for worldwide purchase and download.
